Did you know God wants you to read His Word – the Bible – all the time, every day? In this blog, we will explore why it’s crucial for all Christians to read and know what the Bible says. We also describe how when you read the Bible, you read “life” into your life. Why? Because Jesus is life and He is the Word of God.
God blesses those who read the Bible.
Revelation 1:3 says that God blesses the one who reads this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to it and obey what it says. For the time is near when these things will happen.
In the Bible you discover all of God’s blessings in your life. If you’re not aware of them, how will you ever know how to receive God’s blessings? God also gives you promises that you would never discover unless you read your Bible. For example, Ephesian 6:2 says to “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first of the Ten Commandments that ends with a promise. And this is the promise: If you honor your father and mother, you will live a long life, full of blessing.”
Jesus is the Word of God.
John 1:1-3 says “In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. He was in the beginning with God. He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn’t make. Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone. V.14 says that “The Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father.
In John 19:13 John describes the rider on the white horse that was named Faithful and True. Later in verse 13 John says, He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God.
In John 14:6 Jesus told him (Thomas), “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Here Jesus claims he is life which confirms what John describes above that “life itself was in him.”
The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God.
Ephesians 6:17 says to Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
In Revelation 13:15-16 John describes the rider on the white horse from his vision and says that, From his mouth came a sharp sword, and with it he struck down the nations. On his robe and thigh was written this title: King of kings and Lord of lords. The rider is Jesus!
Reading the Bible makes you wise.
Proverbs 1:1-4 says, These are the proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel. The purpose of these proverbs is to teach people wisdom and discipline, and to help them understand wise sayings. Through these proverbs, people will receive instruction in discipline, good conduct, and doing what is right, just, and fair. These proverbs will make the simple-minded clever. They will give knowledge and purpose to young people. Solomon was the wisest person who ever lived! Why wouldn’t anyone want to learn from him?
Proverbs 4:7 tells you that Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do!
Why it’s important for you to read your Bible:
Ther are multiple reasons to read the Bible. Some of them are:
You must validate and confirm everything you hear from the pulpit at church or online with the Word of God. Read the scriptures they share for yourself on your own. Is what the preacher/minister saying actually in the Bible? Is it taken out of context? Is their message in line with the entire Word of God? You must become knowledgeable about the Bible so you can defend your point of view and defend truth.
Deception is growing exponentially these days, and you must be grounded in your beliefs – meaning, you must know the “why” you believe what you believe – or you will be deceived.
You want to acquire wisdom in your life. The Bible is full of advice for every situation and for every circumstance or season in your life. Read your Bible.
By reading the Bible, and specifically the book of Revelation, you will receive a special blessing from God.

God wants you to read your Bible to get to know Him. The Bible says that Jesus is the Word of God. Therefore, the more you read the Bible and know the Scriptures, the more you get to know Jesus. Jesus also said himself that He is life. Therefore, the more you read the Word, the more life – the life that Jesus provides – you receive. I encourage you to read your Bible every day and on every occasion. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand the Scriptures, and He will.
